disposal of e-commerce waste. This could include requiring suppliers and online
retailers to ensure that their products meet environmental standards, are packaged
sustainably, and do not generate unnecessary e-commerce waste. Implementing
penalties and strictly addressing violations could enhance compliance with these
regulations.
- Enhancing education and raising community awareness about e-commerce
waste is essential. The government should promote educational campaigns and increase
awareness regarding e-commerce waste issues, helping to create a more environmentally
friendly consumer culture. Consumers need to be informed about the impacts of online
shopping and ways to minimize waste, such as reusing items, choosing products with a
longer lifespan, and supporting recycling programs. The government should encourage
consumers to participate in green e-commerce, buy products with green labels and eco-
labels on e-commerce platforms.
- The government can encourage research and development of new technologies
aimed at minimizing e-commerce waste. Investing in the research and development of
recycling, reuse, and processing technologies for e-commerce waste can lead to
innovative solutions that mitigate negative environmental impacts. This includes
developing effective electronic waste management systems, which encompass recycling
programs and the handling of e-commerce waste, as well as creating a favorable business
environment to support companies operating in the recycling and waste management
sectors. The government can also develop incentive policies to encourage e-commerce
businesses to engage in sustainable practices. These incentives may include tax
reductions or financial support for e-commerce companies that undertake recycling,
reuse, and processing of e-commerce waste.
- The State needs to issue policies and standards for environmentally friendly
packaging and develop a set of criteria to guide the assessment and identification of
green e-commerce enterprises, ensuring harmony with international practices. This is an
important legal framework as a basis for building a sustainable e-commerce model,
contributing to promoting green economic growth.
- Additionally, strengthening international cooperation is essential to address the
issue of e-commerce waste, as it is a global challenge. Countries can collaborate to share
information and experiences on reducing e-commerce waste, providing funding and
technical support to developing nations to help them build infrastructure and capacity
for managing e-commerce waste.
The above proposals can help the government address the issue of e-commerce
waste comprehensively. However, to achieve effectiveness, the implementation of these
measures requires collaboration among the government, businesses, the community, and
consumers.
