addition to being higher than pipeline transport, only 1/16 of that of the rail transport
industry, 1/6 of that of the rail transport industry, 1/6 of that of the rail transport industry

The third advantage is that inland waterway transport takes advantage of the
advantages and uses the water flow of natural rivers in the process of transporting goods
and customers without requiring too much raw fuel.
From the above advantages, inland waterway transport has lower costs than some
other transport industries.
However, besides the advantages and advantages, waterway transport still has
certain disadvantages such as the speed of inland waterway transport is average
compared to other forms; depends on natural conditions such as climate, weather,
hydrology, hydrology, etc.; Mobility also limits the need to combine different forms of
transport.
Transport is the logistics activity that has the greatest impact on the environment
through many aspects such as infrastructure, transport network, means of transport, raw
materials used, CO2 emissions, etc. The two main factors that directly impact the
environment include the transportation network system and the operation of
transportation vehicles. To move towards greening transportation activities, the Ministry
of Industry and Trade (2022) has pointed out that converting from road to waterway
transportation is one of the most optimal solutions in Vietnam's current situation [6].

range of sources, including government documents, the Ministry of Industry and Trade,
the General Statistics Office, survey data from the Institute for Logistics Development
Research, and Vietnam Logistics Reports published by the Ministry of Industry and
Trade from 2020 to 2022. The study also referenced pertinent research works, books,
newspapers, and journals.
The article utilized descriptive and comparative statistics, along with a thorough
analysis and evaluation of the research topic. The article shows the assessment of the
current status of waterway transportation in the Mekong Delta, with an emphasis on
infrastructure and services, thereby identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the
waterway transport system in the Mekong Delta. Finally, based on the research findings,
the authors offered strategic recommendations to the Government and local officers of
