Temperature changes of the compost pileThe increase in temperature in the compost pile enhances chemical reactions during composting, stimulating thermophilic microorganisms and killing disease-causing organisms. After 14 days, the temperature decreases, requiring mixing to provide air and homogenize the material. After 5 days of mixing, the temperature rises again due to renewed microbial activity. After 25 days, the temperature reaches ambient, indicating that the organic material has stopped metabolizing and no longer releases heat. Visually, the straw changes from bright yellow, dry, and hard to brown, soft, and broken. The foul smell disappears after 15-20 days. The treated product is analyzed for quality, with results shown in Table 2:
