Essential oils, with notable anti-inflammatory properties, can offer supportive benefits when applied to joints through gentle massage, promoting musculoskeletal health and comfort, especially when left overnight. However, improper use of some essential oils may result in adverse effects, emphasizing the need for careful administration [2].The Red Dao herbal bath remedy has garnered scientific validation for its therapeutic effects on conditions such as rheumatism, bone pain, numbness in the extremities, and skin disorders. Additionally, it offers benefits in alleviating fatigue, enhancing vitality, and aiding in detoxification after alcohol consumption. Among the primary ingredients of this traditional formula is the Camphor tree Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl, which contributes key volatile and essential oil components. This remedy is typically administered by steaming or preparing a bath with the herbal mixture, whereby the beneficial effects of medicinal plants are largely attributed to the presence of these volatile compounds [3].Previous studies indicated biological activity of essential oil of the C. camphora including anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant, and antibacterial [4, 5]. These investigations only explore the essential oil properties without differentiating between heavier and lighter oil fractions. Our research aims to advance this understanding by comparing the bioactivity of these different fractions, specifically analyzing their free radical scavenging capability using the DPPH assay and their anti-inflammatory effects via NO inhibition assays.
