Green agriculture: Dong Nai is a leader in developing high-tech agriculture in the
Southeast region. With nearly 300,000 hectares of agricultural land, the province is
promoting organic farming models, circular economy practices in agriculture, and the
application of high technology in production. The Dong Nai government aims to reduce
agricultural emissions by 20% by 2030, contributing to the national target.
3.3. Prospects for green growth in Dong Nai
Support policies: The Vietnamese government has introduced several critical
policies to promote green growth nationwide, among them Decision 1658/QĐ-TTg on
the approval of the National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030, which marks an
important milestone. This decision sets specific targets for reducing greenhouse gas
emissions, encouraging the use of clean energy sources, and fostering green technology
in key economic sectors.
In Dong Nai, the provincial government has implemented a Carbon Emission
Reduction Scheme, aiming to reduce total emissions by 12% by 2030. To achieve this,
the province has enacted specific policies, such as encouraging businesses to invest in
clean technology and renewable energy. The government also supports access to green
financing through preferential interest rate programs, providing information and
consulting services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on how to effectively
implement green solutions.
Additionally, Dong Nai is collaborating with international organizations and non-
governmental organizations to receive technical and financial support for green growth
projects. These policies not only help businesses overcome the initial investment
challenges associated with green technology but also encourage them to transition to
sustainable production models. For example, industrial parks in Dong Nai benefit from
tax and land incentives when investing in renewable energy projects or low-emission
production lines.
Economic growth: According to the World Bank report, adopting green growth
solutions could help Vietnam's GDP grow by an additional 5-6% annually by optimizing
resource use, reducing energy costs, and improving labor productivity. Dong Nai, a
province with a strong industrial economy, is actively transitioning to a green growth
model, particularly focusing on clean industries and high technology.
The province's GDP growth is forecast to reach 8-9% during 2025-2030, thanks to
contributions from green industries and high-tech sectors. The production sectors in the
province have begun to apply advanced technologies such as automation, digitization,
and clean energy to reduce emissions and increase production efficiency. This not only
enhances Dong Nai’s economic value but also mitigates negative environmental
impacts, protecting natural resources for future generations.
For example, Dong Nai has invested heavily in renewable energy projects such as
solar, wind, and biomass power. The Tri An solar power plant project, one of the largest
clean energy projects in Dong Nai, not only supplies electricity to hundreds of thousands
of households but also creates jobs for local workers. Businesses in the
