SECTION II. APPLIED BIOTECHNOLOGY IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY... 311DMSO [15]. By utilising a UV spectrophotometer, the absorbance was determined at 515 nm. An equation was used to calculate the radical scavenging capacity (SC, %) of the extracts, which was expressed in terms of DPPH.The standard deviation (s) is calculated by Duncan%u2019s formula as follows:2.8. Statistical AnalysisAll treatments were performed in triplicate, and the data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Statistica 5.5 software (StatSoft Inc., Tulsa, OK, USA). Results are expressed as mean %u00b1 standard deviation (SD).3. RESULTS3.1. Enzyme activities on solid-state cultures The activity of both laccase and catalase enzymes in solid-state culture media from fungal strains belonging to the Basidiomycota and Ascomycota, cultured on PDA and pomegranate peel media, may vary depending on the fungal species and the cultivation conditions (Tab. 1). The data shows significant differences in enzyme activities between Basidiomycota and Ascomycota strains, as well as between different substrates (PDA medium and pomegranate peel). Basidiomycota strains generally exhibited higher laccase activity
