THE INITIAL STUDY ON CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF VIETNAMESE AVOCADO LEAVES (PERSEA AMERICANA MILL.) HARVESTED IN DAK NONG PROVINCE, VIETNAMNguyen Duc Thang1, Ngo Thi Phuong2, Pham Thi Nhung2, Nguyen Tuan Anh1, Do Thi Thanh Huyen2, Ha Thi Thanh Huong2, Le Minh Ha2*Abstract: Avocado, scientific name Persea americana Mill., belongs to the Lauraceae family. It is well-known as a delicious and nutritious fruit tree, widely cultivated in the provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Gia Lai and some other provinces in the Tay Nguyen region of Vietnam. Meanwhile, avocado leaves are also used in various traditional remedies to treat digestive disorders, stomach issues, diabetes, blood lipid, and hypertension. In this paper, we report the isolation and structural identification of five compounds: luteolin (1), luteolin-7-O-glucoside (2), rutin (3), (6S,9R)-roseoside (4) and (7S,8R,8%u2019R)-5%u2019-methoxy isolariciresinol (5) from avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) collected in Dak Nong province, Vietnam. The chemical structures of the compounds were determined using nuclear magnetic resonance 1 Hanoi University of Science and Technology, 01 Dai Co Viet street, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi, Vietnam2 Institute of Natural Products Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), 18-Hoang Quoc Viet, Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi, Vietnam* Correspondence: halm2vn@gmail.com; leminhha.inpc@gmail.com
