134 PROCEEDINGS OF INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON APPLIED BIOTECHNOLOGYdried biomass of black pepper with its moisture of 1.15% was 5.5 mL significantly higher than 2.2 mL determined for the fresh one with the moisture of 33.3% after 240 min of hydro-distillation (p= 0.0059 < 0.05) (Figure 2A). The specific gravity of black pepper essential oil at 30 oC determined was 0.852 g/mL. Consistently, the yields of essential oil from dried and fresh black pepper were 1.57 and 0.94%, respectively (Figure 2B). Figure 2. Effect of material types on essential oil recovery yield of black pepper, (A) Oil volume (mL), (B) Oil yield (%). * indicates statistically significant difference3.2. Effect of distillation time The effect of distillation time on the essential oil yield with different input mass of material is depicted in Figure 3.
