Abstract: In the present high-tech era, organizations should possess certain capabilities and
resources to achieve sustainable green economic growth. Business communities throughout the world
generally and in Vietnam particularly have been increasingly aware of going green and implementing
effective techniques to achieve high performances and to protect the environment. Recently, Green
Human Resource Management (GHRM) has become a key business strategy for every organization to
grow sustainably. The paper aims at revealing the status of GHRM practices such as green recruitment
and selection, green performance management, green training and development, green compensation
and rewards aspects as an effective way to deal with environmental issues. To achieve the study’s
objectives, the online survey questionnaire was used to gather the data on GHRM practices with the
participation of 215 respondents from small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. The
findings demonstrate that these GHRM initiatives enable organizations to obtain sustainable green
economic growth by stimulating employee’s engagement in environmentally sustainable practices at the
workplace. These results support the existing literature of GHRM and verify the GHRM practices’
positive influence on SMEs’ sustainable green growth. The study highlights the effective implementation
of significant GHRM practices to develop sustainable green workforce that play an essential role in
achieving sustainable green development goals. The research’s outcomes will be useful for Vietnam’s
organizations and especially SMEs to develop and manage a green human resource, promoting
innovation and creating a culture of environmentally friendly organizations towards achieving
sustainable green economic growth in the industrialized age.
