productivity and gain a competitive edge to attract talented staff and enhance
sustainability. Green employees who are willing to work in and devote their best
knowledge to green organizations with the strategies towards environmental
management will enable their organizations to achieve SGEG (Hong, 2021).
Veerasamy (2023) indicates that GHRM practices in terms of GR&S, GT&D and
GPM have great effects on green employees’ behavior which positively relates to
employee’s GC&R, which enables organizations to achieve high performances and
environmental sustainability.
Green recruitment and selection and SGEG
Within GHRM’s context, organizations recruit and select employees who possess
green competencies and abilities, and then train and develop employees to motivate their
green activities. This encourages employees to display green performances (Amrutha &
Cabral & Dhar, 2019). Organizations should educate their employees about green
environment’s importance which promotes sustainability and contributes to the welfare
of the society.
More and more organizations are now paying attention to GR&S to attract and
retain talented workers, in particular those who have environmental awareness.
Operations towards environment and sustainability enable organizations to recruit
highly qualified and skillful employees (Mis ́kiewicz, 2021). Organizations’
environmental performances appeal to an interest in the recruiting and selecting
processes. Web-based green recruiting which relates to the mainstream channels such
as newspaper ads or brochures with more details about organizations’ environmental
protection practices enables organizations to attract skilled and qualified staff who are
aware of the environment and sustainable performances (Habib, 2022).
Green training and development and SGEG
GT&D is the critical aspect of the green recruitment process, which should be
carried out with much focus. In fact, GT&D improve organizations’ performances
through enhancing employees’ competencies to accomplish the green causes.
Employees recruited based on their skills and knowledge about environmental aspects
will help organizations to achieve environmental sustainability, contributing to
sustainable green economic growth. GT&D results in a green workforce that contributes
to organizations’ ecological practices successfully and effectively.
In fact, green training develops employees’ capacities. This enhances their skills,
motivation, retention and job-related outcomes, resulting in organizations’ productivity
and profitability (Wagner, 2013). Sustainably - aware employees are willing to
participate in green efficient activities namely e-filing, online training, job-sharing,
virtual interviews and teleconferencing, recycling telecommunication technologies,
carpooling, energy-efficient office space using (Deshwal, 2015). Through this way,
organizations reduce resources, energy, water and raw materials and as a result reduce
their operations’ costs.
