thoroughly communicated. In fact, there are still some notions that green credit only
applies to large enterprises and that loan procedures are complicated. These barriers
have caused individuals consuming green industrial products to have no information
about green credit services from commercial banks. This barrier has created a difficult
start for promoting and developing green credit for individuals consuming green
industrial products in Vietnam.
Globally, a survey of 2,501 consumers in the US found that interest in green credit
services related to climate change is growing, with 40% expressing a desire to use these
products. The survey also showed that consumers, regardless of income or place of
residence, are interested in green products. In 2020, Tandem Bank of the UK noted that
more than 60% of consumers would switch banks if a competitor offered them green
credit services and were more environmentally responsible. Furthermore, 50% said they
would transfer their savings to a bank account that invested only in green causes
(according to digital.fpt.com).
In Vietnam, according to the State Bank of Vietnam's report, by the end of 2022,
outstanding credit for green projects reached 500,524 billion VND (up 12.96%
compared to the end of 2021), accounting for more than 4.2% of outstanding loans of
the entire economy, mainly focusing on the fields of green agriculture, renewable
energy, and clean energy. This information shows that green credit for individuals
consuming green industrial products has not received much attention, although their
consumption behavior is also one of the factors promoting businesses to switch to green
production and sustainable consumption. Therefore, the group of authors believes that
the development of green credit for individuals consuming green industrial products is
seen as a solution that actively contributes to environmental protection plans, associated
with the goal of green economic growth, prioritizing attracting high-tech, clean
technology, environmentally friendly investment projects, catching up with the Net Zero
trend in the world. From the banking perspective, focusing on developing this service
sector is very urgent and in line with the green economic growth strategy. From the
perspective of individuals consuming green industrial products, green credit will
stimulate the desire to learn about green industrial products and have an approach and
make a decision to use green credit services of banks.
2. Discuss the research problem
With the desire to study the demand for shopping and consuming green industrial
products of individual consumers in Vietnam to serve the policy planning to expand and
develop green consumer credit for individuals consuming green industrial products at
commercial banks in Vietnam, the group of authors chose a quantitative research method
by using a questionnaire to investigate and collect data. The survey data was analyzed
with descriptive statistics with the support of Stata17 software. The group of authors
designed a survey sent directly to 180 individual customers of 10 electronics
supermarkets (including 5 stores of Media Mart supermarket and 5 stores of Dien may
XANH supermarket) in the Hanoi area and conducted in 2 weeks (from
