SECTION II. APPLIED BIOTECHNOLOGY IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY... 483the first days the treatment efficiency is not high. After that, the microorganisms have adapted to the environment, the output values stabilize at a low level. The concentration evolution and COD removal efficiency are shown in Figure 7.Figure 7. Concentration evolution and COD removal efficiency The input COD value also increased correspondingly with the input ammonium. Initially, the input COD value was low at 60 and 120 mg/L, however, during this period, microorganisms were adapting to the environment, so the output COD value was quite high. The output COD had an average value of 70 mg/L when the input COD was 120 mg/L. The treatment efficiency was not high. When the COD value continued to increase to 200 mg/L, microorganisms adapted to the environment, the treatment efficiency increased to a maximum of 94.46%, and the output COD value decreased to about 20 mg/L. When the input COD increased to 350, 600 mg/L, in the first days of operation, the COD in the tank was almost not treated and went out, causing the COD removal efficiency to decrease rapidly. During the last days
