INTRODUCTION
Green growth is an important aspect of sustainable development, ensuring rapid,
efficient, and sustainable economic growth. In Vietnam, the government issued Decision No.
1393/QĐ-TTg on September 25, 2012, approving the National Strategy for Green Growth for
the period 2011-2020, with a vision toward 2050. This is Vietnam’s first comprehensive
national strategy for green economic development. Green growth is a key component of
sustainable development, which involves a close, reasonable, and harmonious integration of
socioeconomic development and environmental protection, meeting the needs of the current
generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Therefore, green growth has become an inevitable trend in the contemporary global economy
and plays an important role in implementing the national strategy on climate change.
The government, ministries, sectors, and localities have recently issued various legal
documents, programs, action plans, and directive texts regarding green economic development,
sustainable economic growth, and environmental protection. The goal of green economic
growth has achieved initial positive results. However, green economic growth currently faces
several practical challenges, including limited awareness among the Vietnamese public and
businesses about green economy; a lack of consistency in implementation; barriers related to
capital, human resources, scientific and technological resources, especially high-quality human
resources that are insufficient to meet developmental needs and the structural transition of
human resources towards green economic growth.
With scientific and practical significance, aimed at a sustainable future, international
integration, and green economic development, Hanoi Open University holds the international
conference “Green Economic Growth” to share and discuss the above issues. This
proceedings compiles articles and research reflecting in detail the content of the workshop
topics and discussion sessions. The main content of the workshop includes key issues such as:
● Overview of green economic growth in the world and region.
● Accounting, auditing, and finance for green economic growth.
● Practical development of businesses towards green economic growth.
● Strategies and policies for green economic growth.
The organizing committee received many discussion papers from researchers, economic experts and
lecturers during the workshop preparation. We hope to contribute useful solutions for green
economic growth in the near future. The articles published in this proceedings have been reviewed
and commented on by experts. However, during the editing and revision process, the articles
inevitably contain some shortcomings. The organizing committee highly appreciates feedback from
readers to improve the proceedings, making it a useful reference for policymakers, scientists,
lecturers, businesses and the community in accessing information and knowledge about green
economic growth.
