the need for enterprises to adopt environmentally sustainable practices (Vietnam
Ministry of Information and Communications, 2020; Vietnam National Assembly,

2020). These policies highlight a clear direction for Vietnamese businesses: to thrive in
the future, they must integrate both digital innovation and sustainability into their core
                  operations.
However, the convergence of DT and GT presents significant challenges for
Vietnamese enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which
make up the majority of the country’s business landscape. These challenges include
limited access to technology, a lack of financial resources, and insufficient expertise in
both digital and environmental fields (Doan & Vuong, 2019). Despite these hurdles,

successful integration of DT and GT offers substantial opportunities for growth,
                  innovation, and enhanced competitiveness.
This paper explores the role of digital transformation in supporting green
transformation within the Vietnamese business context. It examines the drivers and
challenges of both transformations and analyzes how Vietnamese enterprises can
leverage digital technologies to achieve sustainable growth. By highlighting case studies

and best practices, this research aims to provide insights into how businesses in Vietnam
can successfully navigate the dual transformation journey and contribute to a more
                  sustainable and competitive future.
                        2. Literature reviews
The concept of DT and GT has been widely discussed in both academic and
business circles in recent years. These two paradigms are increasingly recognized as
critical for the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of businesses, particularly

in developing economies such as Vietnam. This literature review explores the theoretical
underpinnings, challenges, and opportunities associated with digital and green
transformations. It also examines existing research on how these two transformation
processes interact and can be leveraged synergistically to drive sustainable development.
                        2.1. Digital transformation
Digital transformation refers to the adoption and integration of digital technologies

into business processes, organizational structures, and value propositions, resulting in
fundamental changes in how businesses operate and deliver value to stakeholders.
According to Vial (2019), DT encompasses a wide range of technologies such as
artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, and
automation. These technologies enable businesses to optimize their operations, enhance
decision-making capabilities, and improve customer experiences.
Recent research has emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation
for businesses. Ismail et al. (2017) argue that DT provides firms with the ability to

respond to market dynamics more quickly and efficiently. Through the use of real-time
data and advanced analytics, businesses can make informed decisions and increase
                  operational agility.
