2.1. Current Status of AI Application in Some Areas of the Green Economy
                        Energy Management
AI can optimize energy production and consumption. It plays a crucial role in
energy management by optimizing energy production and consumption, resource use,
and minimizing waste. In Vietnam, AI can be applied in the following ways:

Optimizing Renewable Energy Systems: AI has the ability to predict and
coordinate the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower.
AI systems analyze data from weather forecasts, energy demand, and the performance
of energy systems to optimize energy production and usage. AI is increasingly used to
enhance the efficiency of solar panels and wind farms by forecasting weather changes
and optimizing energy output. In 2019, Google applied AI to manage its wind farms,
increasing the prediction accuracy of wind energy output by 20% (Nick Statt - Google
and DeepMind are using AI to predict the energy output of wind farms).

Vietnam is expanding its use of renewable energy, and AI is helping to manage
these resources more effectively. AI is used to monitor the power grid, manage the
integration of solar and wind energy, and predict consumption needs. The National
Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) in Vietnam has started using AI to monitor the
condition of the energy system, reducing maintenance costs and improving operational
efficiency. AI can help solar farms in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan optimize energy

output by forecasting sunlight intensity and weather variations.
Optimizing Industrial Energy Use: AI can also be used in industrial activities to
improve energy efficiency, monitor energy use, and reduce carbon emissions In
industrial sectors, AI is used to manage and reduce energy consumption, helping to
lower operational costs and environmental impacts. FPT Group and Viettel have
implemented AI solutions to optimize energy use in their data centers, reducing
                  electricity consumption by up to 30% (fpt.com - FPT Ecosystem & viettel.com.vn -

                  Digital Finance).
Smart Grid Management: AI helps build and operate smart grid systems,
automatically adjusting electricity flow according to actual demand, minimizing energy
waste, and ensuring stable supply. AI can also predict technical failures to prevent power
outages. AI-controlled systems can regulate power distribution, reduce energy waste,
and more efficiently integrate renewable energy. AI is integrated into smart grid systems

to balance energy supply and demand, predict consumption patterns, and improve the
efficiency of renewable energy sources like solar and wind. According to a McKinsey
report, AI-controlled smart grids can reduce energy waste by 10-15% globally by
optimizing distribution and consumption. The International Renewable Energy Agency
(IRENA) estimates that using AI in renewable energy systems can improve efficiency
by up to 20% and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 100 million tons per year.
Energy Savings and Optimization in Buildings: AI-based energy management
systems can automatically adjust a building’s energy usage, optimizing lighting,
