learners a chance to practice repeatedly in a low-stress learning setting. Most learners are
not comfortable when asked to speak before classmates or the instructors, as they fear
doing something wrong. AI applications will enable learners to train alone and in their
time, which will contribute to their confidence and motivation. It has been found that
pronunciation training with the help of AI can improve the speaking fluency and
pronunciation accuracy of learners as a part of the traditional classroom training
(Chapelle, 2018).
2.4. Student interactivity and self-directed learning
Among the most significant benefits of AI-based language learning technologies,
one can distinguish the possibility to encourage learner autonomy and involvement.
Autonomous learning is the capacity that learners have to be in charge of their learning
process through setting goals, monitoring, and choosing the right strategies of learning.
The AI-based learning platforms facilitate this process through learning recommendations
and interactive learning activities. Dornyei (2005) argues that motivation is very critical in
acquisition of a second language amongst learners. Motivation could be promoted
through AI-assisted learning environments, which will provide gamified learning
experiences and real-time feedback with the use of interactive challenges. These features
bring in the interest in the process of learning languages and prompt learners to invest
more time in practicing language skills. Additionally, AI technologies will be able to
monitor the progress of the learner and give him or her a detailed report on his or her
performance that will enable them to see their strong and weak points. The feedback
helps the learners to modify their learning plan and concentrate on the areas that need
improvement. Therefore, AI-enhanced learning systems encourage self-directed learning,
as well as advancing language practice beyond the classroom (Stockwell, 2022). Besides
aiding in the process of individual learning, AI technologies may be used to enhance
collaborative learning processes as well. Interactive dialogue systems, conversational
agents, which simulate real-life communication situations, are some of the features of
some AI-based language learning platforms. These systems enable the learners to
rehearse conversational skills in a supportive and risk free setting.
2.5. Student interaction and independent study
Among the most significant benefits of AI-inspired language learning technologies, it
is possible to distinguish their autonomy and engagement of the learners. Learning
independence is the capacity of learners to control their learning process, which means
that they set goals, keep track of their progress, and choose proper learning strategies.
Learning apps based on AI of the platform facilitate this process by offering more
individualized learning suggestions and by having interactive learning activities. Dörnyei
(2005) observes that motivation in the second language acquisition is very essential in
the learner. Motivation can be improved through AI-assisted learning settings with
gamified learning processes, feedback in real-time, and challenge simulations. Such
characteristics make the process of learning languages more interesting and motivate the
learners to devote more time to practicing language skills. Additionally, AI technologies
are able to monitor the progress of learners and give a comprehensive report of their
performance, which learners use to understand their areas of weaknesses and strengths.
This feedback enables the learners to modify their learning strategies and work on those
aspects that need to be improved. Consequently, AI-based learning systems facilitate
self-directed learning and engage in practice of the language outside the classroom
(Stockwell, 2022). Besides individual learning, AI technologies can also be used to
