Evaluation of the ability of prepared granular biomass to treat ammonium-rich wastewaterThe experiment used an SBR system with increasingammonium concentration. The reactor was rectangular in shape with an effective volume of 5 liters. Synthetic wastewater was prepared with composition depending on the different stages of the experiment and was stored in a 20L tank. Periodically, wastewater samples before, during and after the treatment tank were collected for analysis.Figure 1. SBR system with biomass immobilized on PVA gel beadsThe PVA gel prepared as above will replace activated sludge to treat ammonium in this stage. The ammonium concentration in the simulated wastewater will be gradually increased from 10 - 120 mg/L to investigate the ammonium treatment efficiency.The system was operated with simulated wastewater with the following parameters:
