fastest-growing E-commerce markets globally, leading Southeast Asia. Major E-
commerce platforms in Vietnam are expected to continue strong growth in 2024, with
sales revenue and transaction volumes surpassing VND 310 trillion (USD 12.5 billion),
                  a 35% increase over 2023.
Vietnam’s online exports have expanded increasingly, notably through the E-
commerce platform Amazon, with the number of products sold rising by over 30% in
the past five years, equivalent to 17 million Vietnamese products sold worldwide. The
export value of Vietnamese enterprises selling on Amazon has increased by 50%,
contributing significantly to the nation’s export turnover.
With support from E-commerce in general and major platforms like Amazon,
Vietnam’s green products have opportunities to expand their market, reach new
customer segments, and leverage enhanced promotion of the green aspects of their
products, utilizing special green features available on E-commerce platforms.
E-commerce contributes to digital participation, business culture development,
and employment opportunities at local and national levels
Digital connectivity readiness, also known as network readiness or digital
participation, is measured by the Network Readiness Index (NRI). NRI is a composite
index that evaluates connectivity readiness on a broad scale, encompassing network
usage and enabling factors. In 2023, Vietnam ranked 56th globally and second among
lower-middle-income economies, described as “exhibiting admirable digital
adaptability” (Portulans Institute, 2023). The contribution of E-commerce to
connectivity readiness is assessed through the digital economy index (which includes E-
commerce, e-government, and overall infrastructure) as a subcomponent of the NRI.
With deeper integration into the digital world, individuals, households, cooperatives,
and micro and small enterprises across Vietnam can directly access production resources
and expand sales channels both domestically and internationally. This also contributes
to enhancing the livelihoods of local and national labor forces.
E-commerce contributes to enhancing knowledge, skills, and societal
                  responsibility in green economic development
E-commerce plays a dual role in raising societal knowledge, skills, and
responsibility concerning green economic development. Firstly, it has a direct impact
on education and training by enhancing workforce awareness and skill development
through educational technology (EdTech). Secondly, E-commerce challenges higher
education institutions to adapt their curricula to the inherent advancements in E-
commerce in the modern era, promoting green technologies, fulfilling the increasing
demand for green, environmentally friendly products, and meeting labor market
requirements for E-commerce professionals with a sustainable business mindset.
Regarding EdTech products, these are considered digital products (digital
educational content), which drive the digitalization of the educational value chain. This
includes digital content distribution (materials downloadable from websites without
needing printed resources, which can spread widely and be stored long-term if needed).
Online assessments reduce paper-based testing and grading, as well as the need for travel
to attend classes or take exams, thereby reducing transportation demands and related
emissions. According to the Vietnam EdTech Report 2024, Vietnam’s EdTech market
reached USD 5 billion in 2023, with total investments estimated at over USD 60 million.
In contrast to the global trend of reduced investments, EdTech in Vietnam continues to
attract investors and funding. Vietnam is among the top ten fastest-growing EdTech
