Abstract: Green consumption is gradually becoming a general trend of the whole society.
Increasing awareness of the impact of consumer behavior on global warming and sustainable
development has led to the development of green consumption in Vietnam and it is one of the important
contents in the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
However, the implementation of green consumption policy in Vietnam in recent times still reveals many
difficulties and challenges, requiring appropriate solutions in the coming time, thereby contributing to
the development of a green economy (green consumption) and sustainability in Vietnam. This research
aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the formation of green consumer behavior, and it
also seeks to evaluate the multifaceted aspects of green consumer behavior. The paper has 3 main
contents: Firstly, the paper highlights the role and benefits of green consumption as well as the factors
affecting green consumption; Secondly, it analyzes the current status of implementing green
consumption and the challenges in developing green consumption in Vietnam; Thirdly, some solutions
are proposed to support the green consumption in Vietnam.

                        1. Introduction

Green consumption comes from the desire to protect resources for future
generations and improve people's quality of life. So, green consumption is becoming a
trend in many countries around the world, especially popular in developed countries and
is spreading strongly to developing countries with middle income or higher. Green
consumption is becoming an inevitable issue in Vietnam and it is one of the important
contents in the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2021 - 2030, with a
vision to 2050. Therefore, green consumption is receiving more and more attention,
along with activities related to environmentally sustainable production and consumption

                  processes.
As the economy develops more and more, people's living standards are
increasingly improved, the need to use good quality, safe products and services is also
increasing, especially products that support people's daily lives. Strengthening the
implementation and application of green consumption policies in Vietnam will be an
effective solution to protect the environment and public health, towards sustainable

                  development.
                        2. Literature review and methodology
Several studies have been conducted on the green consumption in Vietnam,
