1.2. Green economy development in the world
As climate change is alarming worldwide, more countries are showing concern for
sustainable development. These countries show their care about preserving and restoring
the natural environment and its resources, as well as the health of their citizens.
However, the achievements are not the same. Based on four reliable reports, the
Environmental Performance Index (EPI) from Yale University, a report from the EU's
Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Green Future Index (GFI) from Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT), and the IQAir information platform, Green Match has come up
with a list of the most and least green countries.

According to the list, the ten greenest countries are all in Europe: Sweden,
Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland, France, Costa Rica, Iceland,
Norway, and Ireland. Vietnam ranks 64. This order bothers people who care about
Vietnam’s environment and future development. Hence, I have decided to do a case
study on one of the greenest countries on the list to learn why and how they can
achieve this. The country I would like to study is Switzerland.
2. A case study on Switzerland’s green economy development
2.1. Reasons for the study
Climate change, environmental pollution, and sustainable economic development
are receiving considerable attention today, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.
More and more governments care about this and expect to improve the quality of life of
their citizens. The Vietnam government is also finding approaches to transforming the
economy into green. With this article, I hope to have a say in helping the country.
2.2. Reasons for choosing Switzerland
There are some reasons. First, this is the first country in the world to vote on
whether to implement a green economy. Second, this country has made notable
