Abstract: The current economic development trend in the world is towards a green economy and
Vietnam is no exception in that trend. To achieve green growth for the Vietnamese economy, it needs to
develop synchronously and towards “greening” sectors in the economy. In recent years, Vietnam's
industry has contributed to stabilizing the macroeconomy, creating jobs, improving the income of
workers, directly increasing production value, and indirectly promoting develop related industries,
improve labor qualifications, raise domestic production levels to meet the increasing requirements of
the international market; with the goal “By 2030, Vietnam will complete the goal of industrialization
and modernization, basically becoming a modern industrial country; belongs to the group of 3 leading
countries in the ASEAN region in terms of industry…” However, because the dependence on imports is
relatively large, to ensure a sustainable increase in quantity and quality of the industry, it is necessary
to have Analyze and evaluate to have strategies and solutions for green growth for the industry in
accordance with the characteristics and situation in Vietnam today. This article analyzes the situation
of industrial development in Vietnam, green growth in Vietnam and the development of import-
dependent industries in Vietnam with green growth in the economy.

1. Introduction
To achieve sustainable economic development, it is essential to integrate economic
growth, social progress, and environmental protection, with green growth being a crucial
component of sustainability. Recently, Vietnam has accelerated green growth initiatives
by implementing the “National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2011-2020 period with
a vision towards 2050.” This strategy asserts that green growth is growth based on
changing the growth model, restructuring the economy to leverage comparative
advantages, and enhancing efficiency and competitiveness through the adoption of
advanced technologies and the development of modern infrastructure. This approach
aims to make efficient use of natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
respond to climate change, contribute to poverty reduction, and create a driving force
for sustainable economic growth. Therefore, to achieve the expected green growth, it is
necessary to “green” and restructure the economy across various sectors, specifically
services, industry, and agriculture.
In recent years, the industrial sector has made significant contributions to the green
growth of the economy and plays a crucial role in the process of industrialization, being
a “key” to creating national prosperity. This has been supported by the development of
important industrial foundations, such as transportation infrastructure, socio-economic
infrastructure, energy systems, as well as factories, enterprises, and human resources.
